Religious Education
At Peter Hills, we follow the Southwark Diocese Education Board’s Scheme of work (SBDE) which follows a set series of Religious topics focusing on developing pupils understanding of the world we live in and the people we live with. Our aim is that through R.E. we help pupils to develop a positive attitude towards other people, respecting their right to hold different beliefs from their own, and towards living in a society of many religions and beliefs.
Our intention is to instill in each child an understanding of a distinctively Christian worldview. During their years at Peter Hills they will develop a moral groundwork based on the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels. The children learn to demonstrate the Christian values of respect, peace, friendship, thankfulness, trust and courage in their daily lives. This distinctively Christian ethos will shape the children's understanding of, and respect towards, religions and cultures around the world. Children will also adopt an ability to learn about, and from, different beliefs and practices worldwide.
Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
