TEAMFDS EYFS (Nursery & Reception)

Our EYFS (Early Years Foundation) class is located on the school grounds and is comprised of Nursery and Reception.

The EYFS class has two dedicated staff who are skilled at providing varied and exciting learning opportunities to ensure all children have the best possible start to their school journey. Nursery children benefit from a vibrant, exciting, themed approach to education based in play in a stimulating environment.  Children learn to share, care for one another and work collaboratively. They learn traditional manners and how to listen to instructions as well as how to make choices and be independent. They will begin to learn pre-writing and pre-reading skills. However, where a child is ready to read and write, the opportunity will be given.

During Reception, our students learn to read, write and engage in maths activities that encourage problem-solving and number recognition. We have investigative themes that we study each half term, and each theme is connected with the main story that we read and re-tell in class. We love to take trips and walks and we also take part in year-long project/service opportunities that help us to think about things that we can do to help other people and the environment.

The staff provide a supportive and nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore, take managed risks and challenge themselves.
