Board of Governors Membership Details
The Board of Governors has 16 members: 3 elected Parent Governors; 1 Local Authority appointed Governor; 2 staff Governors, comprising the Headteacher and 1 staff Governor; 1 Co-opted Governor and 9 Foundation Governors.
The Foundation Governors shall comprise 3 appointed by the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education, one appointed by each of the Parochial Church Councils of St Mary All Saints, Rotherhithe; St Katherine with St Bartholomew, Bermondsey and Holy Trinity, Rotherhithe. The remaining three Foundation Governors shall be made of the principal officiating ministers of the ecclesiastical parishes of St Mary All Saints, Rotherhithe; St Katherine with St Bartholomew, Bermondsey and Holy Trinity, Rotherhithe. The chair and vice chair are elected annually.
The work of the Governors is unpaid, however the Board employees a clerk to administer the recording of the activities of the Board and offer operational advice when appropriate. The current membership of the Board is listed on the school website.
The core requirement of all governors is a commitment to work to see the highest standards of teaching and learning, behaviour and personal development established and maintained at the school in order to maximise the educational progress of every pupil and the flourishing of every member of the school community. All governors are expected to take part in regular training to develop and increase their effectiveness.

Jeremy has been a Peter Hills governor since 2011 and has been chair since 2014. He’s lived in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe for the last twenty seven years, and all three of his children went to the school.
At work he’s a Programme Manager, specialising in Change Management and System Implementation, and for the last eleven years has worked for the Royal College of Surgeons. Some of his previous roles have included being an Accountant, Quality Manager, Knowledge Manager, working in the Marketing department of the world’s biggest Law firm, and managing a Web team.
Outside of work he’s also an elder and deacon of a Baptist Church in Bermondsey, where he regularly teaches a Sunday school.

Sasha has been a Parent governor at Peter Hills since 2011 and is currently in her second term. She lived on Rotherhithe street for 12 years and now lives in Newcross. She has had two children at Peter Hills, one who currently still attends, as well as a nephew and niece.

Charlie Gordon has been a Governor at Peter Hills School for about 10 months. She lives in Rotherhithe and has 2 child, both boys, one of which has attended Peter Hills for the last 3 years. She has 12 years’ experience of working in childcare, and in 2010 achieved a BA Hons Degree in Early Childhood Studies. At work she is a Tutor/assessor, for apprentices completing Childcare, Business administration and Management qualifications. She also has a small family run business, and works closely with local charities, supporting fundraising events. Some of her previous roles including, retail management, care assistant in a brain injury Rehab center, working with the elderly and vulnerable adults with learning disabilities.

The Governing Body has delegated authority to the Finance Premises and Staffing, Curriculum and Standards, and Christian Ethos (Faith) Scrutiny Groups.
The Scrutiny Groups have nominated Chairs and minutes of all Scrutiny Group meetings are ratified by the Governing Board.
The Scrutiny Groups do not have nominated members. All governors can attend any
Scrutiny Group and these meetings are always quorate with a minimum of three governors in attendance.
